What to do and how to do it?
It's starting to feel like the world is asking, in some fumbling way, that it could use my help. And in my fumbling way, I'm trying to figure out how to do so.
I want to maintain my old school ways, which doesn't always jibe with what the rest of the world wants. Seriously not a fan of ChatGPT, though I see (begrudgingly) that there are some advantages to be had with it. Just not at the environmental/energy cost. It's unbelievable how much energy AI uses. (Could use a link here, I think.)
I'm feeling pretty uninspired and unregulated today. No schedule, nothing to do. I'm just floating—again. Let me just put stuff down while I hold myself back from social media and computer crap for a half hour.
- Write a cute letter/postcard to Payton while she's away at summer camp
- Get a schedule down the night before each day
- Check EFA job listings
- Exercise of whatever type
- Reading for 30 minutes
Fuck. In this time, I went back to my phone for probably a good 10 minutes. Ugh. Not a good time for my brain today.
In better news, though, I've been doing intermittent fasting for a month-plus now. Nearly down 10 pounds. But what made me happy today is that I dropped something shortly after waking up while walking to the kitchen, and I effortlessly leaned down and picked it up. Not something that would have happened back in May. I would have struggled to get it. So, huzzah for IF.
Want to explore Dylan's Bootleg Series, Vol. 1 today, in honor of Lydia/Cat/Gleemonex, who lists this as one of her 20 desert island albums. Because why not? Let's give this a try. I may hate it, but at least I'll get an understanding of why she loved it so much. I'm a bit on the fence with Dylan anyway, though I can understand, here and there, why he's great. (The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan should be required listening for every American; Another Side of Bob Dylan eludes me; "Murder Most Foul" from Rough and Rowdy Ways has the feel of a historical epic about it.)
Oh, and I'm back in Denver for the month of July. Palm Springs and its 115º days can hold off. We'll return in August, and probably even skip town again after a bit...to the coast, to somewhere—anywhere—other than the meltingly hot desert.
