Nat Phos 6X

It's been since Florida since I last wrote? Wow. How've you been?

A whole season (or equivalent thereof) has passed. So let's cut to the chase.

For some reason, I began reading up on Nat Phos sometime in, oh, July. Its healing properties apparently are limited to reducing acid in the body; it has perhaps the narrowest therapeutic action of any cell salt there is. So, uh, it's good for acid indigestion and gout (in other words, an excess of uric acid and crystals thereof that form in the joints). But what caught my eye is also its recommendation to take it for sclerosis of the liver. Not cirrhosis. Sclerosis. In other words, stiffening and hardening, but not full-on scarring. (As in atherosclerosis or arteriosclerosis.) Caused my eyebrows to rise a bit. As did a description of the tongue in people who would benefit from Nat Phos: a yellow coat that is particularly thick at the root of the tongue. Which I had. A few other salts (Calc Sulph, Kali Sulph) also fit that description, but taking those didn't quite work. So, on an evening after I had indulged rather indulgently and Becherovka wasn't quite doing the trick I'd hoped it would, I took some Nat Phos with little expectation.

Well. In a very short while, I felt my belly start to, uh, perhaps liquefy its contents, and the brick in my gut then moved smoothly on its way into the small intestine, much to my relief and joy. My theory: taking this helped neutralize acid in the body in general, then concentrated it in my stomach, where it was needed. What was more, I had a hard time waking up the next morning and just wanted to sleep. I know enough about the healing power of energetics (homeopathy in particular) to know that this is a potential sign of a remedy that is doing good. But I didn't want to boost this too much, so I limited myself taking Nat Phos. Same thing happened when I returned to it: indigestion was relieved, sleep was great through the night, but I was more groggy in the morning than usual. Since then, the grogginess has abated, and I take Nat Phos on the daily.

Based partially on my reading, I'm also suspecting that Nat Phos helps me digest fats more easily. I notice  that after a high fat meal, any indigestion I may have is taken care of quite easily by Nat Phos. Sometimes it takes a few doses, but it really does the trick. Not coincidentally, I think it may have helped decrease what I now know of as steatorrhea...painful, cramping, annoying, smelly steatorrhea. So probably I'm secreting bile a bit more easily now, and breaking down fats to the point I can digest them. Basically, this means I'm absorbing more calories. Which leads me to my next conclusion.

Weight has been coming on relatively easily, which this gainer is thrilled with. After years of hovering around 285 or so, then just hovering around 293 in the spring (my previous high that I struggled with), a little plug seemed to come clean in my system, and I began gaining again. I've put on five pounds over the past month, and would not be surprised to see myself pass 300 sometime before the end of the year. In fact, I've weighed myself multiple times over the past few weeks during the day and have been comfortably over 300. (My standard, though, is first thing in the morning, nude, after going to the bathroom.) We'll see what happens going forward, but for now, pushing 300 fairly effortlessly—and without overt health issues—is a joy.

See, this is a huge reason why I was not cut out to be a naturopathic doctor. I like to be big, have a big substantial gut, as I've mentioned umpteen times. And that, especially in the naturopathic world, is a big no-no. So, oh well.

More later, perhaps.
